The names of the Holy Family were incredibly popular during that time period. I heard they found letters from that period written from a Jesus to another Jesus and witnessed by a third Jesus. And I think Miriam and its variation made up anywhere from 25% to 40% of the population.
But the question is what the likely that a tomb would contain ossuaries with those specific names in that relation(Joseph and Mary had son named James and another called Jesus who married a Mary and gave birth to a son named Judah/s as well). They did DNA test and found that the bones of Jesus did not match those of Mariamne (Mary Magdalene). This means her bones were included because of a marriage to someone in the family.
Its a statistics game. Its like imagining that in the US there are lots men named Bob married to girls named Sue. But then calculate how many would have children named Jim and Joe who had a son named Steve by a woman named Jane. That particular combination would not be as common despite the popular names.
There are more important questions regarding how a poor family could afford a tomb or why it would have been in Jerusalem when they were from Nazareth?
All the same, as a student of religious history and philosophy, this is some crazy stuff!
there were a number of bones. inscriptions... what really entertaining is all the hooplah, and pomp religious leaders will have already tried to discredit it all...
they are studying male female genes and dna as to wether they are related to each other (the bones discovered in the tomb. it's not a coffin. look it up.
Christianity is a concept. Exporing the tombs is archaeology. religion and science is two seperate realms. The archaelogical studies may be interesting to some but to take it as important to christianity is wrong.
I could really "Rant like Rick" here but it would only twist up my knickers and give me a headache....so instead....I'll sip my coffee and try not to burst into flames.
Your right I full of crap, a sinner, a liar, a thief, and etc. Religious scientist is a oxymoron. Religion is about belief and a strong belief is faith. Science is all about testing and observation.

Well folks...if you do remember your sundayschool this shouldn´t come as a shock to you. Any recollection why Maria and Josef were in Betlehem when Jesus was born? That´s right, the Romans wanted a headcount and registration. So...according to that folkregistration there was 67 families around that time registred with a Josef and Maria as a marriage couple with a Jesus as a son. Can that tomb that is discovered be the family tomb of the actual people that the new testament is based on? Maybe but not likely, since they actually didn´t live in that area. Josef was born there so he had to take his family to register there.
This was very common at the time, the Romans also wanted to see how far people moved from their roots.
Since the resurrection was added some 400 years after to form a bond with the "new" religion, that family with Jesus, his wife and possible children might be out there. But like always in archeology, it´s all about theories.
I was watching Larry King Live last night and Phil Danhue(sp?) was on there raising hell and every word he shouted was loud and obnoxious, yet hes head of the Catholic League. Its those kind of believers I dun like. Anyway, It would be cool to see if thats were Jesus laid down for the last time. I always thought that his resurrection was more spiritual than psychical. Just me talking tho.
But anything thats uncovered thru archeology thats connected to the Bible is cool.
If they truly believe, than this shouldn't send them into a frenzy, they should just say "theres no way thats true" and go on with their lives, but some are just giving into stereotypes of Christians and being obnoxious .
all the characters out of the bible are spoken about in older / earlier cultures...same people.. slightly different names...same stories...it's all a concept...
