I am curious to see the differing views on what people believe God is. I don't want to cause a battle of who is right and who is wrong because I am just looking for opinions, not answers.
My opinion. I think God is a construct of human belief. God doesn't actually exist except in the minds and the collective of those who choose to believe in Him. The fact that so many millions of people believe in God makes him as real to them as anything else. And what God and the bible teach is generally good, it's basic message is to love people and don't do wrong by anyone. It's pretty simple and would make for a great world if everyone were to follow it. I think belief in God has helped many people and I am glad that has happened. The problems occur when people believe too strongly in God and not enough in respecting others.
I am would love to hear anyone else's opinion on this topic so hopefully we can all expand our understanding of how other people feel and think on this topic. Thanks.
Hey..pssssst I guess it's not that strange that only the non-religious seem willing to "discuss" tonight. Maybe if we start "debating" the zealots will chime in.
Ummm...scroll up....I thought that is what we were doing........and I haven't seen one quote from the non-religious sector in regards to the bible......

I believe that God has different names across the world, YHWH; Father, Son and Holy Spirit; Mother Earth; Great Spirit; Allah; The Source; The Universe, The Others...the list goes on but the motive remains the same. My belief is that God (I'll use the term on the thread) created us to be part of a utopian world. I believe that it is our decision-making ability that was our very purpose for being and that in the future we will serve as ambassadors to the other worlds to teach them what self-destruction darkness brings. (That's my view of heaven, not naked babies and clouds)
Did this last night, but what the hell, I'll try it twice...
I FIRST MET GAAAWD ONE DAY .....I WAS WALKINA DOWN THE BOARDWALKAH EATING A TUNA FISH SANDWICH...WHEN THIS VOICAH RAAAAAANG OUT FULL OF POWER AND MAAAAAAAAJESTY AND SAID "hey man, gimee abite a dat samich"
