My best friends funeral was today....He was Ojibwe.....for most of the years he worshiped through his native culture....but in recent years began to change and accept Christianity.....we discussed both belief systems and he and I decided we can have both....this was the way his funeral was conducted today.....I thought it was very nice....and a learning experience from both perspectives.....everyone was given a chance to speak about their memories they wanted to share about his life.....it was so good to do that.....and turned a sad moment into something very enlightening.....those that wanted to took tobacco and lifted their prayers up with it.....and that tobacco was smoked in a special pipe with the family.....this part was the native cultural traditions....there was more to it also....but was sacred...as it should be......angel

maybe a bit off topic... dunno.

But, doesn;t it seem wrong for folks whom go into tribes...wherever they may be, and offer aide, and charity...with the price of selling religion to them...

I've never understood this "Make the heathen savage proper" thinking. Like they don't deserve it any other way?

Sorry, nina...

I think traditions of all kinds in he old ways are awesome...
