And this estimate may be low. I read recently that some 44 million Americans live below the poverty level, and I think that was reflecting US Census data.
Perhaps even more distressing is the enormous and widening gap between those who are paid at the highest levels and the rest of the people. The ratio of what the highest person in a corporation is paid compared to the lowest has multiplied several times in the last decades.
Is this really the kind of country we want to have?
I've met the richest poorest people that really have a a great idea of what life is really about. It would be a good thing if the children of the next generation break that cycle. That's why were spending so much of our hard earned tax dollars torwards their education.
If preserving the next generation means I gotta give 15.00 every other week outta my paycheck I sure aint gonna sit around and complain if it's actually going torwards that cause.
In my lifetime i've known people that have worked their whole lives. I've also met rich people, who's definition of "rich" is complete and disregard for the price of anything.
