He generalized it to women because he's a man and you're doing the opposite to balance it for women. This is how wars begin. Some people are happy making their own moola and not happy to share it. Some people are happy to find someone to share their wealth with. I don't see anything wrong with either story as long as both parties are on the same page.

Don't you find that the first question that anyone seems to ask another when they first meet is "what do you do for a living?" regardless of whether they are potentially attracted to someone as a mate? Seems to be as automatic as asking how someone is.
I think that its appropriate to classify "some" people as seeking a mate for security (ie. emotional/financial security) but extremely unfair to classify every person into this category.
Haven't you ever met couples who are together for years and years and still happily together? They are definitely out there.
