Its kinda funny...once some mail came for me addressed to Michael instead of Michelle. So, Mike was my family's nickname for me so I canged all theirs too...

Petra to Peter
James to Jenny
Ron to Rhonda

My mom's name is Helga, I started calling her Harold
and my dad James was Jenny Jo...

It was funny when someone called and asked for someone, we would call them by their nickname to the phone...and the caller would always wonder what was up with that.....It made for a really funny childhood joke. Especially when friends were around!confused

Similar transition - at about thirty years old, we had two other Bob's in the office, and in a cube environment, there was some confusion. So I asked to be called Robert. I moved into a new apartment complex at about the same time back in Michigan, so that's how I introduced myself. Of course, no one here in Cali knew it any other way, so the transition was complete.

-Robert (Bob)

I have two older sisters and we are all within 3 years of each other in age. When we were teens, my sisters, and then my parents, started calling me Rena. It used to confuse the heck out of our boyfriends, they would think there was a Rena and a Reva... They still call me that from time to time.
