My 12 y/o wrote this as a way to handle her confusion about the Tech tragedy. I think she did a wonderful job expressing what even adults are having trouble expressing. She gave me permission to share it.
__The Unexpected__
Students sitting in a class Listening to the teacher's facts. They thought it was a normal day Nothing different, no disarray. Suddenly happy thoughts are retired as a gunman came in and fired. Panic struck like a lightening bolt. They searched and searched who was at fault. He'd already gone out the door. His whereabouts they were not sure. Dreams shattered forevermore, innocent bodies lifeless on the floor. 32 lives stolen away. A single man took them that pointless day. His own life also gone. Reality crashed down like an atomic bomb. What could have made him cause that fright? We all know it just isn't right. Such a sad way to break the silence. They say expect the unexpected... I say just end the violence.
