I've heard of that but it doesn't make sense to me. I don't feel indifference is on the other side of the spectrum. It should be another strong opposing emotion, such as hate or fear. Still not sure which of the two. It's not trivial.

Love and hate are two strong emotions, but there are still some sort of emotion there, whether it be love or hate... With indifference there's nothing... Which is more "hurtful"...

Hmm. Do you think indifference is more hurtful? I'm not sure about that. Besides, is being hurtful the real opposite of love? This is getting complicated. Emotions are not my domain. They are for women grin tongue

If someone hates you, or loves you there are feeling involved, being negative or positivem but after all feelings...
As for indifferent, there's nothing....

Yeah, but shouldn't they be in the same category (feelings) to be opposites? For example, the opposite of red is green (both colors), the opposite of hot is cold (both temperature perception).

I'll tell you one thing.

It's a hell of a lot easier to have a discussion with an athiest than an religionist.

With the athiest, there seems to an emotional void.

(or avoidance) dunno

I mean by the One True Church, the congregation of all the faithful, who, being baptised, profess the same doctrine, partake of the same sacraments, and are governed by their lawful pastors under one visible head on earth.

I call the true Church The Holy Catholic Church.
There is no other true Church besides The Holy Catholic Church.

As there is but one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism, one God, and Father of all, there is but one true Church - Ephes. iv. 5,6.

Strict honesty to everyone, and moral good works, will not ensure salvation, whatever Church or religion one professes, unless such good works be enlivened by faith, that worketh by charity. - Gal. v. 6.

Our good works must be enlivened by faith because the Scripture says, "without faith it is impossible to please God; and he that believeth not shall be condemned." Heb. xi. 6; Mark xvi. 16.

We are not justified by faith alone without good works, "As the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without good works is dead." -
Jas. ii. 26.

Our good works must be also enlivened by charity, for as Saint Paul says, "If I should distribute all my goods to feed the poor, and If I should deliver my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. "-
1. Cor. xii. 3.

If there are things you don't understand ask some one and then when you are told the answer make up yourmind but don't judge everyone or every religion as we all have our paths religious or not .

we are not put here to judge other s just to judge ourselves .

Col 1:9-11
We ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will, with all the wisdom and understanding that his Spirit gives. Then you will be able to live as the Lord wants, and always do what pleases him.

Your lives will be fruitful in all kinds of good works, and you will grow in your knowledge of God. May you be made strong with all the strength that comes from his glorous might, so that you will be able to endure everything with patience.

What were the Jews expecting the Messiah to do for them?

1. He would be a good shepherd, a better King even than David. He would help the poor and the weak, and defeat all their enemies. In his time, even the animals would be at peace with each other.

2. He would be an ideal Priest, not relying on animals offered and slaughtered, as with the sacrifices of the Old Law, but offering his own suffering to God for the sins of the people. He would say to God, 'You don't want sacrifices; I am offering myself.'

3. He would be an ideal Prophet, not only telling people that they had disobeyed the Ten Commandments of God's Law, but helping them to change their hearts by giving them the Holy Spirit of God, so making them want to follow God's way and become his friends.
