The God Delusion....Richard Dawkins

I bought this book yesterday, Richard Dawkins won the Galaxy British Book Award Author of the year 2007, and this book was and still is a Internation Best Seller, since its release in 2006.

If anyone had read this book i would like to hear your thoughts on it.

Hi Belle, I bought a whole load (well, a few anyway) of such books cos i was supposed to be doing my dissertation right now but had so much trouble with my internet in jan i ended up off line for 3 months and late with all my essays - i just decided on a gap year else i would be only getting the basic marks cos of handing stuff in late - its good really cos i was sure as anything feeling the pressure.

At the moment im just enjoying a bit of time out and spending lots of it on here which is helping reduce those stress levels no end

Another one is Breaking the Spell by Daniel C. Dennett which again i have delayed starting but it poses the question of "how would a visitor from Mars explain human religions" - that sounds like itll be fun too

Trish handshake

im not sure of a proposition yet but it is going to be around the question of religion or spirituality, which gives people more hope, fulfillment, satisfying answers to their questions - sort of thing.
Im not trying to prove or disprove either way but just to sort some of the illusion from reality - sigh

it depends on so many variables im not sure where to begin to approach getting it in writing - is probably good that im having a gap yr but i intend getting this done whilst im just hanging around - thanks for your interest cheers

the book is allowing some very valid points to come across which really opens up the mind and sparks some deep thinking

yeah - that sounds about right, im looking forward to reading it. his first book, The Selfish Gene was an eye opener too - as well as speaking of evolution in the genetic sense He termed the word 'meme' which is the equivalent in society of the gene in the organism - i really like his work - there is a lot of stuff on memes out there now and they are possibly even mentioned in this book - i will get reading soon handshake
