Just a thought for the day.....

... it comes from a friend suggesting that unless I 'get out there' and take chances for a relationship, that I'm not living, but existing.

I get the point (and the well meaning intention!) but my argument is I shouldn't have to work that hard..

...if it happens, great. If not, then I'm still happy, only without the high and lows of emtional intimacy.

Does anyone have a similair scenario, comment, etc..??

Hello Pete, if you looked back on personal history, - might you see a pattern of 'backing off'?

I understand this, but can it be identified as 'protective' or 'defensive' ? mmmm...dunno dunno

Of course you have to get out there and work for it, that's the way life works, nothing gets handed to you on a plate.

I think the idea of fate is very nice, but what about all the people who believed in fate, then grew old and wrinkly on thier owncrying?

Sorry, lol, a bit of a depressing thought, but it had to be saidconfused

i am scared of loving a bit to be honest. i think after you have been hurt you sometimes hold a little bit back for self protection.

although i don't think that i am not "living". i have a little boy who i love, no holds barred, not scared of loving him at all! if it wasn't for him then i guess the statement might be kinda true for me.

....this is way too deep for this early on a saturday morning!
