Hi joe nice to meet you ......I am nuala also known as noodles nules and mammy in the irish forums.... accidents will happen and life is to be enjoyed not endured .....wishing you lots of good wishes....
Joe we never know how life will lead us, but the path choice from that point is up to us.
My Grandfather lost his right hand when he was about 17 working at a saw mill. He continue working in anything he chose. He did timber work with horses and wagon. He hewed cross ties for the railroad, picking each up on his shoulder and carring them a fair distance to the rail car to be taken downline. He ran a welding shop and blacksmith shop. He build a sandstone rock shop and house. Much much much more! He made good money and lived well. He never took on cent of handouts or goverment checks or the like. He was respected and no man would dare offend him because he could wipe up the ground with any.
He once was shingeling a house on one side and two men where on the other side. He finished his side and hopped over to the other to help them finish. They both in shame and anger threw down their roofing hammers and left. They were not going to be out worked by a one armed man. I was told this by one of the men himself.
At the lowest point in his life, with very poor health, with only two fingers working (thumb and 3rd finger) to keep busy...he took elastic and stapped a chisel to his stump and using a large hammer was taking motors apart and stripping the copper out of them.
You are what you make of yourself, no more...no less.
If they leave it up. The pic to the left is the old house of my grandparents! It is old and served its purpose well. The shop he built was 3 times bigger. He laid every stone. He traded for the stone and hauled it from another town about 200 miles away.
I'm sorry that happened to you. Accidents do happen. I'd like to share this with you....My kids Dad was playing BB guns with his cousins when he was a kid. He was accidentlly shot in the eye with a BB. He doesn't see to well out of that eye, now. But just like you, he is doing fine, now.
That's ok......my Dad lost one of his eyes when he was younger in a similar type of accident.......he looked very normal to me all my life.....I could'nt tell the difference until he took a drink and one of the pupils dialated and the other one did'nt.....
Anyhow to cut a long story short......the best Man I ever knew....
So dont worry for that......beauty is only skin deep.....what matters is what lies in the heart.......
