Contemplating the enigma: What is Poetry? The iambic pentameter of Milton’s Paradise Lost, the intriguing lyrics of a great Robert Frost, or is meaning to be found down that path not taken?
Could poetry possibly be an elliptic mish mash of obscure phrases dealt from a shuffled deck of disjointed thoughts spewed forth from a mind’s too tightly clinched sphincter in the form of
Psychical diarrhea, brightly colored by solitary words ingested randomly and locked away, only to escape as verbal flatulence, and proclaimed by self appointed icons of verse to be “THE WORD“?
A contestation to be played out only by the passage of time. What will stand as the definitive word, and what will decorate the stake by a third world defecation pit. Only cliched time will tell.
