Hi everyone

I am thinking to myself i should put a post in this and guess what cant find the end of it.........wow! lot of replies!! lol

Anyone how i would just like to add that i myself, yes do like the Irish accent and feel that both times on visits to Dublin in the past i have had a blast and it was also due to the warm welcome from the people from there who just love to blether!!!

But..........may i add that in my experience of talking to peeps around the world and of course especially the Americans which is what this post is concerned with i have found that they also love the Scottish people, their accent and their open friendliness to all who walks on the land.

And lets not forget that quite a lot of peeps from the USA also descended initially from good ole Scotland, and that is part of the reason that they find themeselves on missions to come and trace their heritage.

Anyway enough said.........wherever anyone is from in the world when you come to Scotland simply you are "Failte!"

Take care
Magsy x

The Irish are EVERYWHERE man ... but it was only when they got to New Zealand that they found their soulmates. The New Zealand Maori had a culture of story-telling and great mythology. They had tatoo (yeah I know, you don't anymore ... but the old Celts did) ... and they had very similar attitudes. Like the story of Cuecallan and how he got the name. He did someone a wrong although it was unavoidable so he put it to right. Many of the stories of Maui the Maori mythological hero had similar vein.

So there ya go, but it was Yeats wasn't it that said, "The English came and took our land and laid waste to it. We took their language and made it the most beautiful in the world." You have to forgive the English a little but. Otherwise you'd all be speaking French.

Now if only the Irish could kick their habit of following other people's religions and fighting to the death over it ...

Yessss ... welllll it's well known that the Scots decended from the Irish (he says hoping to start a new civil war).

Seriously ... There was a lot of trade and intermarriage between Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands. Evidence - Language similarities and names from antiquity.
