DAN ....I keep hearing about Canada and the fact they have a generalized health plan that covers EVERYONE in that country. Maybe that's something THIS country should have. Wouldn't it be a novel idea for our government to be "working on it?"

Oh Sweetheart, the Clinton administration looked into that when he was in his first term. It was Hiliary's baby. Just didn't go anywhere except increase costs and decrease Medicare benefits. It died a slow death. At the time, the models looked at were both from Canada and the UK. At that time, the biggest problem was the back log in getting physician appointments & into hospitals for elective surgery. I could tell you horrible things that went on over the past 15 years in trying to "fix" our healthcare system. Our government is still trying to "work on it" and each step costs people more and more money, just like the new Medicare Part D does. It's really sad and I'll keep right on paying thru the "nose" to protect my secondary insurance benefits so they will be available to pick up the slack, if Medicare is still around when I qualify for it.
