You know whaT I mean, folks, these are a few samples of the American butcherization of the English languahe:

Nev-A-da is now Nev-AH-da
P-A-sta is now P-AH-sta
The name S-A-sha is now S-AH-sha
The name Ch_a-n-TEL is now Ch-AH-n-tAh-l
P-A-kistan is now P-AH-kis-an
Iran is now I-r-AH-n...and so forth...

What's next? Is C-A-nada going to become C-AH-nada?

What American idiot or organization decided that the English language needed this freaking overhaul?! It was bad enough with that African-American crap to describe a Black American (who was born and raised in an American city).

The English language was fine just the way it was...

Sign me,

"Pissed"

LOL John... You are one of the most ignorant people I have ever seen on the forum.

I happen to pronounce NEVADA with a short "a" sound. I also pronounce Chantel and Pakistan and I ran with a short "a" sound. Sasha, I do pronouce with an "ah" sound. Actually had a cat named Sasha for years.

What idiot or organization decided that you were an expert in the English language?

BTW..As an American idiot that don't know how to speak English, I must tell you, "butcherization" isn't even a word...LMAO You actually should of said, "the butchery" or we are, "butcherers".

When you learn how to speak proper English buddy, come back and lecture...lol

In the dictionary, one of the definitions is, "common citizen of any Nation?"...Sounds like that describes him somewhat too. What do you think?

Oh GAWD!
John ... or is it Jean, the secret behind the success of the English langauge is it's adaptability. It is so adaptable it is useful in a rapidly changing world. It survives Chinese, which is spoken by more than a 1000 times more people as a first language.

A Tahitian (that's a French speaking Polynesian folks) once told me that, "Anywhere you go in the World, if you speak English then English speakers will try to understand you. If you mispronounce French, then French speakers will ignore you."

So really this "speaking the Queen's English" stuff is all baloney. After all she is a decendant of French speaking Normans and Welsh Celts. Indeed her Norman ancestors made English illegal for a time. But they couldn't kill the dynamic language. It's not her English at all but the common man's.

English is a live and dynamic language. I may not be able to understand English in one hundred year's time but I won't care. However the users in that time will still have a useful language which allows them to describe their environment.
