try setting it upo like an international call. Put the country code in the phone number and try that as if you were going to actually call each other. If that does not work you might have to buy a phone with his number on it and he will have to send that phone to you so you can use it. If that still doesnt work try a NEXTEL it can do the walkie talkie thing and you can talk a little cheaper than a regular phone

Why don't you both download Skype?? Its free anywhere in the world and you can actually talk, not rely just on texts.

either skype of voipbuster... it's free and with voip you get to make free pohone calls to land line phones in other countries, check it out, all you need is a mic and speakers of course.

Thanks u guys....I know about skype and all that, the thing is that now he's in a nother city where he has access to internet, but usually he lives in a small town where he could only text me over the mobile, that is why we really want to know....so through yahoo or skype is not an option.

If you have the option to send international text......you'll have to ask your provider. Then, what you need to do is find out what web address they use.....it will look like...(phone number@nextel.com) You will have to use that entrie address to send the text.
