What's happening to our society? In the UK anyway? An 11 year old boy shot in the neck.....dead, 18 teenagers in Englnd shot dead this year alone.
Do we blame the parents? Do we blame differing cultures?....no...............there's no discipline in youth today. Young people appear to believe they can do as they wish.As I child I was scared of doing wrong, a Policeman would give me a clip round the ear, if I did wrong, and take me home, Dad would give me a clip for bringing the Police roundlaugh But seriously, then we had discipline, we respected our parents and the police.
For my opinion there are wayyyyyyy too many do gooders that has taken away the power and discipline the parents and teachers and police had. Bring them back, for the sake of the future society
I have no wish for a Police state, but one of respect for the laws of the land and of people in general.

That shooting happened less than a mile away from me Jacko...heard the sirens and helicopter all night. Shocking...terrible...you do wonder.

Kids ain't kids anymore...we have babies and then young adults...and by yound adults I mean kids who think they can behave like adults...bad adult role models. Where are the parents? What the hell are they doing to allow this to happen?sigh

It's the gangs and drug culture unfortunately...It is the same in Canada in some of the larger cities...The social problems behind why kids choose gangs and drugs are what needs to be dealt with..unfortunately I don't think alot of thought goes into prevention!

WHO stats as of 2000, numbers would be higher today. One person commits suicide about every 40 seconds, one person is murdered every 60 seconds and one person dies in armed conflict every 100 seconds.

We are insane as a species, we just keep redefining the term.

No not the parents to blame, however....why aren't they controlling what the children watch on tv? Why aren't they able to know who the childs friend are? Why are schools not able to enforce discipline now? It appears to be a waste of time attatching blame, answers are what is needed

Do all families have both parents working? Should we allow any child to be alone? What has happened to the family structure? If there is respect, we know where they go, we know what they watch, we know where they hang out,........ i know nothing is perfect in this world, but why would you allow a child to grow without supervision?

Don't we as parents train their minds? Or rather show them how to develop it? Not control it........that obviously would be wrong

thankscheers ...but, wasn't inferring that church was imoortant to raising a child. My point is that if you "send" you child to church or Sunday School, you are relaying the wrong thing...if the parent doesn't go to.

When I was a kid I had to go to Sunday School and always wondered why it was important for my soul...but not my foster parents!!handshake

Our children are what we teach them to be...there is good and bad in all..I am a single parent to 8 kids but they learnt a hard lesson in life when their dad took his life...but they turned their lives around and i can say each and everyone of them have done me proud..hug hug

but there is kids that have no struture and grow up not knowing how to live or even how to behave and really its not the kids fault ....That has to be the parents for not showing them how to live....There the kids i feel so sorry for ......hug

I guess no answer is the right answer or the wrong answer, kids grow to be problem kids because of lack of discipline when they are young, alot grow to be great kids, but too many are doing as they please.............I visited the Uk a little earlier this year and was shocked to see what was happening, I only hope it gets better sooner rather than later

Hi nuala, didn't know of your loss......I'm sorry for that. There are kids in structured families too that are ill disciplined, possibly these are sometimes worse................this is only my personal thoughts...........not of any professional, however I did work 6 years in the prison service and saw alot of wrongs in life.......No government will change society..............Parents will...............schools will...........given the power they once had..........parents able to say no to their children. Still lets hope for the futurehug
