Getting married on TOURIST visa? (19)
angelanaLondon, UK37 Threads 2 Polls 210 PostsOne of my friend is getting married to someone she loves so much, but he is visiting on tourist visa and get married to her. Now he is a German buy, and the girl is Sri Lankan. I am so confused. They say its not a big worry, but I am thinking

Yes, they know each other, but in long distanct cant travel much. Now they planned getting married but he is travelling for marriage on tourist visa

there are a lot of systems...no international law in that, EU doesn't have a common law for that.
But then you would have to ask the sri lankan Law if it is legal, assuming it's the place where the marriege will be taking place.
But, there is no inconvenience on marrying with a tourist visa...as long as all the proofs of capability, according to his and sri lankan law are in complyance...
The question should be: Only residents are allowed to marry there? People can marry where ever they want to and the appliable law may not be the one of the land that holds the cerimony as well.

I think for EU they dont have categories for that. I think they should now consult the country consulars, for legal things. Anyone can marry anywhere in the world.

Every country has it's own laws. My ex-wife wants to marry a guy in India! They can get married there, but the U S will not recognize the marriage. She must bring him here on a fiance visa, for him to come over. The paperwork is on the process now. but they must be married on U S soil, or not be legal!!

Oh...i thought you were just wondering...then you will have to report to them? Country consulars are perits of their respective law for sure. It's common to marry in ambassies (which represent countries).
I should get married here, to a german guy at the South African ambassy, since i want to live there...and the way they cover the regime is perfect...i could be protected
