Confused.... (7)

Hey,

I need some advice. Am 19- young but not naive. I was with someone just over a year, he was alot older than me, I loved him, things got serious, lived together, engaged n he even got a tattoo of my name. Things happened- he left. A year on, I still love him but to much has happened, you wouldnt believe half the stuff he did if i told you.

A year on and im in a really good job and am seeing someone else now, hes lovely, caring and everything every girl could wish for but i duno what to do cos he loves me and i cant return the feelings :( maybe its cos es at university over 100 miles away n i hardly see him? i dont wana lose him but...i just dnt know.

I feel like ill neva feel the love i felt for my ex with anyone else, when i do meet someone- i just dont like them or whatever.

I wana meet someone whos right for me.....

Sounds like i've been the mirror opposite from you...in thati went out with someone your age, was besotted etc and things happened etc...

Main thing is don't let the mistakes unduely affect your life, have fun and the right person hopefully will come along shortly.

Don't settle for the first thing that comes along, after all your hoping for the best, just be honest, open and don't let the mistakes of the past ruin a friendship or relationship you will have in the future.

Total agreement Rob... Claire.. things happen for a reason. Take it from two old timers.... when you meet someone who you're meant to meet, you'll know. Even when you know... don;t rush into anything... he may not have the same feelings and you'll just end up getting hurt.. take your time.. let things take their course.. stay happy and have fun.

Your post really hit a nerve with me.

I am now with a lovely man that I met on here actually. He is kind, caring, genuine and very gorgeous too! However..... A couple of years back I met someone that I had incredible chemistry with. I really thought it would go somewhere, but due to his unreliability I decided to back away from him as I knew from experience it would end in tears and i wouldnt be able to convince him to be more reliable.

Anyway, despite how strong and serious my feelings are for the new guy, the ex is always on my shoulder. I made the sensible choice, but I dont seem to be able to get the ex out of my head and heart. If I gave into him I know i would not have a good life. I can have a great life with the new guy. Sometimes we just have to choose whats best for us....... u will always have feelings for your first love. The next one wont necessarily be the same, but that doesnt mean you wont eventually fall in love with him. Sometimes its not instantaneous.... Might be worth the wait tho.

Thats the oldies for you!! What I find interesting as i get older is that 19, 29, 39, 49 59..... our hearts and feelings dont change! Nor do we get more more sense in this matter!!! We all just have to do our best.....

(Just for the record, thats the only thing that doesnt change... everything else drops!!! So enjoy 19... )
