oops....forgot to mention.....YYZ is the only song I can play FULL BLAST on my stereo.....the engineering must be awesome......and my neighbours HATE that song.......lol
That is actually a very tricky question,......my criteria for a good tune may or may not be criteria for the "commercial" realm,......
But if you are asking for MY criteria,......so long as the song, the music, TAKES over the moment while I am listening, then it is good. If it allows me the opportunity to become distracted,...then it ain't so good.

GOod music to me is something that can capture my soul..........
may it be the lyrics, the sound or the emotions it can bring......
I love an upbeat song when I am driving home, soft rock when I am at home, lounging, sad songs when I just feel like being sad and need to release.........and then I love any type of freestyle when I am in the need to dance....which I do almost every day....may it be at work OR at home.........
I believe that MUSIC is here to help us release emotions.......and endorphins............
IN closing, I think that MUSIC IS FOOD FOR THE SOUL.............

my criteria is #1 the artist has to have written what they are singing!it seems that today in music there is a sound and a look and a video! i love music that can take you there! with no video! an artist that can make you feel the song weather its anger heartbroken lust or jist havin fun i guess thats what makes it for me the more live it sounds the better !

It has to have a good beat, for sure. I like anything with a little (or a lot) of funk! I like the slower stuff too, but that's for when I am in a mellow mood.
well for me it depends on the mood im in.....i have different things i look for depending....but i like a song that has some meaning.....and beat is a good thing...however...i do like many kinds/styles of music...
Any tune I hear at a strip club and brings back fond memories of my time at the skin bar.

I love all kinds of music, and will listen to anything once! my favs are technically difficult with a deeper philosophical meaning... but I can't listen to that all the time either, and sometimes just plain old radio is fine.
