Probably because most of the ones in real life (the street, work etc) are already attached.
So, yes it is sort of an easier way of avoiding hurt by jealous girlfriends and wives
However, sometimes online we do find we bond on a very deep level with certain people we come into contact with. We feel the meaning of their emotions and soul from behind their words..
It's easy to become
when you bare and share your soul to your soulmate from cyberspace.
So, smitten in fact... that the man in the street can become the "invisible man"..
