Trish, the council of Nicea did NOT establish Chrisianity as a faith...they established Christianity as an organised, franchised religion.
What they did was to dilute Christian teachings with pagan beliefs to create a more blended, more acceptable set of teachings, specifically designed to encompass the practices of worship in as many disparate faiths as possible.
A very important point to be made here: this served to unite, but also to persecute those who did NOT give in to such blatant manipulation of clear Christian teaching...a la G Bush's 'If you're not for us. you're against us'.
Once again, Nicea was a blow AGAINST the real teachings of Christianity contained in the bible, whether you believe in them or not.
No, I agree, but they did establish christs birthday - oh and I believe there was a pertty important creed to go along with that - scuse me whilst i just google a mo!
No way - I am not having this - they diluted Pagan Teachings with Christian Propaganda - The Pagans and Boudicca were here long before the God of the Christians
