This time of year I love to hear Hot House Flowers 'Dont Go' just gets me in the mod for more spring/summer days
It starts: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There's a smell of fresh cut grass And it's filling up my senses And the sun is shinin down On the blossoms in the avenue There's a buzzin fly Hangin round the bluebells and the daisies There's a lot more lovin left in this world

Hot House Flowers were the first concert I ever went to in Seapoint in Galway and they played that song, everyone went mad ....... that was a long time ago and it still gets radio play
Another great Irish Galway band were the Stunning, did a few gigs again recently and were still class. Both bands wonder why they didn't make it bigger compared to some of the crap in the charts!
This one always gets me, Alexandra Leaving by Leonard Cohen
Suddenly the night has grown colder. The God of love preparing to depart. Alexandra hoisted on his shoulder, They slip between the sentries of the heart.
Upheld by the simplicities of pleasure, They gain the light, they formlessly entwine; And radiant beyond your widest measure They fall among the voices and the wine.
Its not a trick, your senses all deceiving, A fitful dream, the morning will exhaust Say goodbye to alexandra leaving. Then say goodbye to alexandra lost.
Even though she sleeps upon your satin; Even though she wakes you with a kiss. Do not say the moment was imagined; Do not stoop to strategies like this.
As someone long prepared for this to happen, Go firmly to the window. drink it in. Exquisite music. alexandra laughing. Your firm commitments tangible again.
And you who had the honor of her evening, And by the honor had your own restored Say goodbye to alexandra leaving; Alexandra leaving with her lord.
Even though she sleeps upon your satin; Even though she wakes you with a kiss. Do not say the moment was imagined; Do not stoop to strategies like this.
As someone long prepared for the occasion; In full command of every plan you wrecked Do not choose a cowards explanation That hides behind the cause and the effect.
And you who were bewildered by a meaning; Whose code was broken, crucifix uncrossed Say goodbye to alexandra leaving. Then say goodbye to alexandra lost.
Say goodbye to alexandra leaving. Then say goodbye to alexandra lost.

Worth checking out too I think
I remember them preforming at the Eurovision-thing... I must be getting old, think it was in '88... Great song, will have to listen to it now, and hope for spring instead of snow...
Less of a song, and more of a poem, The Moody Blues "Days of Future Past" Starts with:
"The Day Begins"
Cold hearted orb that rules the night, Removes the colours from our sight, Red is gray and yellow white, But we decide which is right. And which is an illusion? Pinprick holes in a colourless sky, Let insipid figures of light pass by, The mighty light of ten thousand suns, Challenges infinity and is soon gone. Night time, to some a brief interlude, To others the fear of solitude. Brave Helios wake up your steeds, Bring the warmth the countryside needs.
This whole album moves me, but it all begins with this bit of poetry.

not just the words but the music is very moving........
Emerson Lake and Palmer ,,,,I Believe In Father Christmas
They said there'll be snow at Christmas They said there'll be peace on Earth But instead it just kept on raining A veil of tears for the Virgin's birth I remember one Christmas morning A winters light and a distant choir And the peal of a bell and that Christmas Tree smell And their eyes full of tinsel and fire
They sold me a dream of Christmas They sold me a Silent Night And they told me a fairy story 'Till I believed in the Israelite And I believed in Father Christmas And I looked to the sky with excited eyes 'Till I woke with a yawn in the first light of dawn And I saw him and through his disguise
I wish you a hopeful Christmas I wish you a brave New Year All anguish pain and sadness Leave your heart and let your road be clear They said there'll be snow at Christmas They said there'll be peace on Earth Hallelujah Noel be it Heaven or Hell The Christmas we get we deserve
Pretty much any of the major arias from Rigoletto, by Giuseppe Verde. Even without understanding the Italian, the songs have so much emotion.
For instance: "Vendetta! Si Vendetta" when the jester Rigoletto swears vengeance against the Duke for seducing his daughter. Even though its in Italian, and you can't understand the language, you know he means:

Edgar Winter Group AUTUMN
Autumn, the wind blows colder than summer.....
Autumn, my love's gone with another.....
I can't demand anything of myself now.....
So I guess I'll stay here in New England, for Autumn.
Buildings look tall and gray.....
Birds flying, haven't much to say.....
They all know that it's coming again.....
So I guess they'll stay here in New England, for Autumn, Autumn.....
Did you ever lose something, that you thought you knew?
Did you ever lose someone, who was close to you?
Well I lost my lover..... and my summer too.....
To Autumn, the wind blows colder than summer.....
Autumn, my love's gone with another.....
I can't demand anything of myself now.....
So I guess I'll stay here in New England, For Autumn, Autumn.....
AUTUMN..........
