cristina: Anyway, she is very beautiful

Polish women are both "strong" and beautiful. Maybe it is the true seat of the Amazonian queendom?

But when you are a 15 yo kid with acne a "strong" woman scares you. And I did not change my mind when living there, they have a great attitude.

Krakow was such a run down place when I lived there and now it is a pearl.

The funny thing is that they are suppose to be strong mothers to their men and not really as strong independent women. Strong, docile. That baby voice with strong message can be annoying!laugh

No money to keep the outside of the houses in order, streets badly fixed, non functioning heating and very bad isolation to name some.

It was part of the east block but not the country getting most investments as Poland was a head strong "member" and did not receive much encouragement.

Krakow is a proud city with beautiful buildings and old history. When they again got control of their own fate, they made it show. Like Riga, same story and same result.

I see what you say, but I too saw what happened.

EU has paid huge infrastructure money (as it is the plan, really) but many of the reconstructed houses were financed by private persons or companies way before they became members in EU.

The "promise" or possibility of membership accelerated this willingness of private investments as they hoped to make a profit and finally, when they became members, full cities change shape (Bucharest at the moment).
