So just a bizarre question.. does anyone here have anxiety disorder issues? And if so how do you deal with them? And when it comes to meeting people how do you manage to do it while having this disorder?

yup. have for a long time...

sometimes it can be overwhelming, and cause physical symptoms.
does not help hotflashes at all! lol

there is really good visualisation, and breathing exercises that work. takes practice, but better than any meds out there...

had a panic attack today as a matter of fact.i take medication for them but they are still scary.I have a hard time with change,going on dates etc but i make myself do it.Going to the store used to be a chore but I got over that.I have a child to raise and I don't want him to live with this affliction.I've had it all my life and it sucks.

for a couple of years i suffered with anxiety attacks, durring the height of them it felt like I was gonna die from a heart attack, i learned eventually that as frightening as they were, they were never gonna do me any harm, once i could fully comprehend this when i felt one comming on, i'd talk mtself through it untill it passed, they eventualy got less frequent and less severe till they finaly stopped.
aslso my brother has an illness and anxiety would fall high in to the list, its gonna be a bit harder for him, but I know he'll get there.

The reason I ask is because... there is this guy... lol of course there is always a guy right? well I think that I do like him and would LOVE to pursue it but.. I have an anxiety disorder... It is very difficult for me to talk on the phone..... I have issues about crowds and all that weird stuff. I mean I don't want him to think I'm messed up and yet I do want to talk to him on the phone... any suggestions besides "just do it"... lol I just fel like I don't want to miss this opportunity....

ones I had driving were the worst! got to where I'd avoid traffic, and then going out...

mine stemmed from flashbacks, and stress during the time...

but, my family is susceptable... manic depression, anxiety disorders...

bi=polar...

I might have made it sound like meds aren't good. they are.. depends on each person and what works for them.

hun does he know you suffer with this? cause if he does then maybe ye can take babysteps at first like keeping the conversation to a set time, Ie ten mins to begin with, have a list made up of things youd like to talk about so you dont get too flustered, try a glass of wine or a half a beer(but don't make that one a habbit) gradualy you will find that you can talk for longer, and will feel more relaxed... if its any consolation i still get realy flustered when it comes to talking one on one...blushing

Yes.. let your gut be your guide. Mind over matter, the mind is the most powerful device known to this world. Shift gears, relax and let it flow. If you're not comfortable with initiating the phonecall.. give him the number and tell him to surprise call you. Working from the surprise angle can have great results just the same as any other one.

I feel really weird now.... And I think I like the advice of the small babysteps... Maybe I will make the phone conversation small at first and then work my way up... like fcryan suggested.... as for the whole give him my number and have him surprise me.. I have call display and I never answer the phone. My friends and family know to just leave a detailed message about what they want because I never answer my phone...
