HealthyLiving: I had a bad accident late Thursday night. My truck is totaled! I layed it over on its side in the median after hitting 2 HUGE COWS that were in the road, standing in my lane!
It was pitch black outside, almost midnight, out in the country on a divided 4 lane road. I had just crossed a bridge, checked my surroundings, observed oncomming traffic, looked in front of me and the 2 cows were standing just in front of my hood. I hit them both, they knocked my headlights out and sent me into the center median. I was headed for the oncomming traffic when the enbankment became very steep, uphill, and it tipped the truck and trailer over onto its right side. We slid for about a trailer length (53 feet) and came to a stop at the edge of the oncomming shoulder.
If my truck had crossed that lane, I would have gone down a 30 foot embankment and into a 20 foot tall levy formed from a huge pile of boulders. I would have been killed!
My life was spared. My dog and I are fine. I have a few cuts and bruises, but no broken bones. The hospital just called to tell me the radiologist was looking at the x-rays and noticed "foreign matter" in my hand, probably a sliver of glass. They want me to have it checked out and get the glass removed.
Thank God you are alright. Those cows can be brutal. Just as deer can. I am sorry to hear about the truck though.
HealthyLiving: The other truck and trailer was there, but the team who came to offload and reload was late and did not show until 8am.
At first, it was going to have to be taken to the landfill there. Then the health department inspector allowed us to return the load for inspection. It will go to a landfill somewhere. What a waste of all that food!
glad you and puppy are okay.all that matters.
Of course in some countries, and the cows..well umm
Your OK ha, sorry to hear that your trucks recked. But better to hear your good and your dog is good. did your keep some of the beef to give the dog a treat.
wow, you are fortunate you made it. I can't tell you how many rigs catch on fire from side impact. And when they do, there is little chance of survival.
