Actually what I d like to see is a Libertarian to get a Shot at the White House, and hopefully might be able to trim some of the Government Deadwood. But under the present "Rules of Engagement" there isn't much chance of that. Too many Hurdles for a Third Party or Independent Candidate to overcome. So at Heart I am Libertarian,in Spite that some Nordic Fellow wants to cast me as BUSHNEY!

I guess that would be me too..I vote independent....and don't agree with the party system...the U.S. election is a great example of why!!!!!!!!

Here,an Independent doesn't have the Hurdles to overcome as the do in the US. Might been some reasons for it once, but it definitely needs to be looked at. In CH we have enough Parties, across the whole Political Spectrum, that they have to Govern together.

Not perfect, but it works better than most Systems
Well here it's almost like the U.S. so it's the same...you never see the independents get in...but I won't vote for someone I don't agree with regarding the parties it's just a different face...same BS...the two parties here are the Liberals and Conservatives so it's the same hostile environment....it would probably be great if we had some decent ones...who didn't succumb to the political BS and actually wanted to do something for the country because it benefits the country and not just their party!!!!!

Sounds like a pretty good system and yes likely the closest to a true democracy who allows it's citizens to have input into decisions made like laws and changes to the Constitution that will directly effect them...the days of governments governing to benefit themselves and not the people and country the are there to work on behalf of and top down (government dictating to the people what is good for them) vs. bottom up (people dictating to the government what is good for them) I wish would do a turn around to the bottom up concept...because that's representative of a true democracy....and what it should be....
shipoker58: well I served in Vietnam....does that qualify me to be president? And I believe the man you are insulting is an American living in Switzerland!!
No,to my Chagrin i am not American, even though I feel a deep affinity with your Country.
