Do you see any immediate red flags like being over-clingy or apparent past that he may have spoke up that's making him respond like this? If not, then I'd tell him that you'll consider it but you're not comfortable with the speed and his reactions. If he doesn't respect your wishes in this instance, he won't respect them any other time. At the very same time, it'll provide insight as to how well he reacts to your thoughts just the same.

Thanks -- what I feel is the beginning of admiration/trust/respect which from past experience are a "must" for deeper feelings to develop .. in time. What he claims to feel is "love" and I feel suffocated. But I won't do anything drastic just yet -- glad he does not know where I live just yet ...

very good advice; I know he comes from a 20-year alleged emotionless marriage; after asking him to slow down and give me breathing room for a week, he reduced calls from 10 a day to 4; is now writing poetry by e-mail; so I guess that is progress;
