I have lived in adelaide for all but three years of my life and as I entered into my twenties I actually realized I wouldn't know of any place in south australia where u can actually meet other singles. I don't really have any social life cause I do have a young son and all the friends I did have from high school have all gone their own ways so I feel more embarrassed then anything that I more or less a loner. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can meet other singles or even friends from s a so I can have a social life and fix the incomplete jigsaw puzzle and be completely happy with my life??

Before moving to NSW I lived in SA and was a single mother with three young children. A friend suggested joining Parents Without Partners as a way of meeting people in a similar situation to myself.

There are lots of branches throughout Adelaide and surrounding areas. They hold regular informal coffee meetings and kids are always welcome. Their focus is on a relaxed friendly environment and includes the kids in many activities...ie: bbq's, picnics, fun days, zoo visits etc. Also, every couple of weeks there is a night out for the adults and Parent's Without Parter groups from all over are welcome and often join in. Sometimes these nights out include going dancing, dinner at restaraunts or casual pancake nights at a member's house...just to mention a few.

It's a nice way to meet people and include your children at the same time.

venere08: Actually, my brother tells me lots of young people where he was previously working, are taking to lawn bowls. Seems to be a new craze in parts of OZ! Who'da thunk it?

well that's true

and on a converse note, we saw on the weekend that "older folk" can still get down on the dance floor to some hip hop and house, well one ol' fella did at least. this guy was easy late 70's and was getting chiggy wid some young talent on the dancefloor at the brisbane meet venue .thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up to the old dude
