It's a three-way-tie for me between "The Agony and The Ecstacy" by Irving Stone, "Trinity" by Leon Uris and "McCarthy's Bar" by Pete McCarthy. The first two are a bit more weighty and the third is hilarious. Hope you enjoy
The beach by Alex Garland. The movie was awful since they changed part of the plot. Also anything by Tolkein and also Fredrick Forsythe.
