I don't know if this is true or not but I'm told that in Ireland and the UK that Hackney drivers (cab drivers) are legally allowed to urinate in public next to the front left wheel of their vehicle. This old law still applies from the days of horse drawn cabs when the driver could not leave the horse unattended.

Equally, thousands of cab drivers I am told, are breaking the law by not carrying a bale of hay with them, to feed the aforementioned horse! I have heard this both in the UK and Ireland so I suspect that it's true! I certainly hope it is!laugh

This last part is true, the only reason it has come up is because there was a ralley of some sort in England not too long ago protesting against it, they, the cabdrivers were trying to make a statementjaw drop hmmm I wonder if they peed in public?laugh will have to check that one out and get back to this because this is something that sounds familiardetective pointing

Actually its just MEN not cab drivers laugh

the worrying thing is our silly laws are not old, they are new and come from Europe, we were better off with the Brehon laws :) the mother and father of all the sane laws in the world.

I particularly like that a woman can divorce her husband if he has bad breath or his lousy in the sack grin

Just found a link to dumblaws.com, only one for ireland but some very strange laws from UK.

As our laws are more or less based on english law they probably apply here too.

I think the Brehon Laws are brilliant as well !! THey were Pro women and saw men and women as equals long before so called "womens lib" was fashionable. They had their own armies and fought alongside the men on the battle field.
Cuchulainn, was actually taught how to fight by a woman thumbs up thumbs up

"After marriage, the woman was a partner with, and not the property of, her husband. She remained the sole owner of property that had been hers prior to marriage. Property jointly owned by her and her husband could not be sold without her approval and consent. A married woman retained the right to pursue a case at law as well as recover for debt in her own person. In certain cases of legal separation for good cause, the wife not only took with her all of the marriage portion and gifts, but an amount over and above that for damages.
My favourite is the law that a woman was entitled to her marrital pleasures and if the husband couldnt rise to the occasion then she could divorce him. Cool or what !!!banana cheering banana cheering banana cheering banana cheering

Icelandic law: men are not allowed to own any land.
Children will bear the name of the mother e.g. Helga Anna'sdottir and Christian olga'sdottir In other Nordic countries children are named after the father e.g. Ake Sigurdson.
Women rule in Iceland.
