I just finished "Stalin and his hangmen" by Rayfield. A good book, but a depressing read.It covers the relationship of JS to creatures such as Dzherzhinski, Menzhinsky, Yagoda, Yezhov and Beria throughout his life.

3. Star Of The Sea by Joseph O'Connor

I've started this book a few times but gave up until now.
It's a bit heavy and laden with famine time tragedy but I enjoyed it
