Universal Health Care (projected cost 1,600 euro per person)... (7)

Another cost to the already cash strapped paying public, effectively making all of us 'private healthcare users', no get out clauses as yet, but subsidies for the needy are in discussion...
Another tax?, this amount will get you a minimum care package and its projected as 1,600 euro per citizen of a contribution age, money that will be deducted at source, pay or benefit (at the moment free healthcare is to be offered to children up to age 5 i think, you can google the exact age if you want)....
I also heard yesterday, the health service is charging private heath insurance companies over 800 euro a night for HS beds in hospitals....I hang my head in dispare....mumbling....
You can discuss this among yourselves....

Can't see this working as people who can afford it will still buy private care, in order to skip the queue as it were.

It sounds like Obamacare. You know it will be a lot more than €1,600 especially after year 1.

I heard 'The Minister For Health' say today on RTE that welfare recipients will have the cost of their 'Free Health Care' deducted from their weekly pensions/allowances. Ha ha ha

So if James Reilly is right and welfare/pension recipients are going to have money stopped from their weekly payments to fund this new healtcare setup will the Government also be taking money from people's bank accounts to pay for it? Like they said they would do if we didn't pay the Property Tax?

There's no doubt that anyone who isn't entitled to a medical card, which would be most of us who are working should have some kind of heath cover because everyone has to go to hospital sometime.

But the cost of it is crazy at the moment.
