robplum: oh some can go down 19 inches or something, depends on type ground i think, but if its all units and pavers probably ground would have been leveled etc. Wonder by and see what it is some time, you can rent a detector no worries, so you wouldn't have to buy one

you havent set your discimination too high have you? i know with mine if the ground balance isnt right itll only go two inches deep.you should still get some signal.i have to raise and lower my detectorand at the same time slwly turn the ground balance aroundtill it only beeps when an inch off the ground, then i know it will pick up nuggetts and relics 9inches down.mine is an old one though

Born and bred in the Shire, when St George was the local Club. Best beaches in the world at Cronulla, even if 'northerners' from Hurstville used to invade it on weekends. Our backyard was about 600acres but turned into Sylvania Waters in later years.

And I do know Hurstville Grove. One of my aunts lived opposite the little park which she said "must be the only grove of trees in the whole area." It was she who said back in the 50s that it was a pretentious name.

i said i paid to much. I paid $218.00 for 3.29 grams that means i paid around around $62 a gram, i brought it so I could fiddle with my detectors settings and paid that as i my bids were bumped up (probably by the seller). The Perth Mint scrap gold price at the time was only $41 so depends what the seller asks. I started bidding based on the Perth Mint figure, it cost me and I was prepared to pay the $62 per gram as that's what the seller wanted, he was the only seller on eBay selling small nuggets that i found.

i wouldnt worry about what you paid,my mates got a2.1 gram nuggett that he found, and it looks like the exact map of tassie, and he was offered 320 bucks for it from a collector in wedderburn that comes here from overseas to buy our nuggetts.
did you work out your discimination settings?in vlf mode?
