CentreUnlinked - 3rd Class citizens

First started earning any money around 1967 as a brickies labourer on weekends and school holidays and then full time employment since 1969 when I left school. Quit work in 2013 (stress but no claims) and 1 year later hit the dole when trying to get cheaper medication for my heart problems.

Now battling to get the Aged Pension because my "Certificate of Particulars of Birth" provided by the Registrar General's Department of New South Wales is not sufficient to prove I was born.

It was bad enough getting a from letter from CentreUnlinked where a supervisor had crossed out unnecessary sections but the very astute person sending me the letter just posted the supervisors hand edited letter.

I have just applied to get a "Birth Certificate" from BDM NSW (previously part of Registrar General's Department of New South Wales) and they have asked me to provide a Birth Certificate as "Proof of Identity."

Thought I would see what is going on around here........usual crap is going downhill.

Seems like you and RobP are the only ones keeping this Aussie Site alive ..... does that mean one of you is now "THE MODERATOR?"

Although I have noticed a few degenerates from OS trying to inflame things.

RE: Say Anything 2016

After not really looking at this site for some time over the last few years.........WTF is happening?

What happened to the "CONNECTING SINGLES" bit? WTF???????

jimmy51RSOLE needs to have a look up his quoit Peeps like him make most of us avoid this site. Where are the so-called Moderators who look after this site?????

RE: Say Anything 2016

Being one of those called up for National Service, I hate that song. I was 20 when I was "called up to do my duty."...... Those 19 year olds volunteered to "serve Queen and Country" wherever they were required. There was those who enlisted in the Australian Army to do what Queen & Country required and those forced by conscription.

The way the general public treated those that "served Queen and Country" by different ways was, and still is, despicable.

Those that served did what they were told to do by order of the legitimate Government of Australia in the belief that that Government was the will of the general public.

RE: Just an Idea

Serene, you picked this to be highlighted. Maybe there should be something done to get a "get together" again.

Melbourne has been done quite a few times but how about a Sydeney thingy-a-bob being done. March 2017 seems to be a good time for some people to be able to plan a singles/couples weekend time to see the highlights for those just for a good experience of something different.

RE: The Aussie election

Now that I have managed to work for the AEC I do feel I can place a realistic comment about this.

Shorten relied heavily on the Medicare Scare complaining which did see him getting the simpleton vote. Except anyone with half a brain would have seen that this was just something out of the air that he brought forward from all those years ago that Laboring supported. Medicare needed to be reviewed as it really needed us decent honest workers to support it.

RE: The Aussie election

I have a lot of issues with Unions and the Laboring Party after they decided to rob the Super fund I was in to prop up a failing State Laboring Government. Yeah, if they had not done this I would not be now relying on Government handouts.

On saying this, I do a fair bit of volunteering with the Salvos (5 days a week) and have a "colleague" who does enjoy a public housing property and its associated benefits. And he has informed me that while he does have about $250,000 invested (sorry, meant "I do not know what you are talking about") overseas he is very entitled to receive public housing and all of the associated benefits.

I am very pizzed off after working the last 3 weeks earning a semi-decent income. For some reason I am very highly qualified to count to "5" in a Division of 5 candidates. I have managed to see "10" on one paper of 5 candidates.

RE: The Aussie election

Now for the big question. Does every vote count?

YES

I am sitting in a Division with 5 candidates. Information on the Ballot Paper says "Number the squares from 1 to 5."

For all of those that voted "1,2,3,4,6" IT IS TIME THAT YOU REVISITED PLAY SCHOOL.

And someone should also note that S.H.I.T.S in the squares means that that was an Informal Ballot and no one gets your vote (repetition of a number or letter is an Informal Vote).

RE: The Aussie election

Getting down to the last days of counting votes in this election. I have only managed 12 hours work this week spread out over 3 days. Will have at least 1 short day next week.

Why am I/we still counting? It takes time for those voting in Warsaw, Belgrade, Stockholm, Dublin, London (a few spots I picked up this week when checking envelopes) to get to us in our small neck of the woods in Victoria. Fact is that every vote is accounted for, even those who find it necessary to include a picture of their small appendage ..... an average of about 2" although today a voter did manage to enlighten us with something worth noting (compared to those ......) while someone (suspect the same voter) used the full extent of the Senate paper to ensure we did not miss on noticing him.

RE: The Aussie election

I have lived in Melbourne for 14 years now and the Federal Government had by then made it compulsory for ALL employers to contribute 6% of all employees income on top of their wage/salary to a Super Fund.

If you had an employer not contributing, then you must have worked for a very shonky firm.

RE: The Aussie election

ps......I want this system to remain as it means that about every 18 months or so I can managed a bit of honest work instead of being a 100% Dole Bludger as I now describe myself.

I am struggling a bit because I do feel that after starting to work 49 years ago (okay a bit of weekend and school holiday work at the beginning) and then full-time since late 1969 until stress (and some other health issues) got to me in 2013 I do need some time out.

I have a brother who started work as a bricklayer in March 1964 and still lays bricks to this day. Okay, he does say that a 40 hour week is starting to get to him.

mickyj777: "“It's my country”"

Prove it

RE: The Aussie election

Add to all of that the cost of counting the votes, checking for errors - they do happen after working a 12 hour day then counting by the same people for the next 6-8 hours. Some people started working on the elections 3 weeks before Polling Day without a break (people did not want to queue on Polling Day or were working or away) and then the demand by Parliament that counting should be completed ASAP.

I only did 2 days before Polling Day and then managed only a 6.30am to midnight on Polling Day (very efficient counting organised by me at my Polling Place) followed by working Sun-Sat with Sunday off. And looks like it will still be going next week.

Why are there errors? Some people have such bad writing that it is difficult to interpret the numbers. Even on a ballot of 5 candidates there appears a number of errors such as
- multiple #1
- #6
- 5 ticks
- #3 repeated
- #4 missed.

These are just a few that I saw today.

I do not agree with the USA system of only 2 parties but something must be done to limit eligibility to getting a name on a voting slip.

RE: Adelaide Oyster Bar Get together

Another faceless invader claims...........................

RE: who's coming along to the gathering?

Micky cannot prove his people have occupied his bit of land for the last 40,000 years because they have no written records on bits of paper. As every knowledgeable person and quite a few idiots know (except for some dumb pommes), the local Indigenous people had not that many written records that Europeans understood.

Then again, the indigenous belief was not about "owning this country" but being a "part of this country." Too many so-called educated people do not understand what "my country" means to any real Australian.

Sorry Micky but where I come from when asked about where you come from, our answer is "Don't ask me. Not my country."

RE: The Aussie election

Being one of those people who does make the effort to count the votes (okay, they do pay me a pittance which is way above the Dole) I am amazed at how many people expect the results 2 seconds after polling closes.

Something like 10,000 people in each electorate decided to vote early at Pre-poll centres over the 3 weeks prior to the election. I am surprised at how many people work on that Saturday or went away for tat weekend. Now these votes CANNOT be opened until after the 6.00pm closing time on the day of the election.

However, each polling centre must ensure that every ballot paper issued is accounted for. Many thanks go to those who decided that they should put their ballot paper in the rubbish bin.

Unfortunately, not enough people are able to work from 7am until 6pm during Voting hours plus the 6-7 hours of first count and then be immediately available to continue counting for the next 24 hours.

Maybe I forgot something. Many bods from southern latitudes do not really enjoy the colder climate and migrate northwards. Somehow the Tardis Booth does not immediately transport their vote to the appropriate Electoral Office and there is a reliance on Aussie Post to dispatch their Postal Vote to the correct centre or a Regional Office to send it to the correct centre.

RE: In the morning I wake up to the sound of...?

Usually it is Mother Nature which insists that I make a mad dash to the loo.

I do love to wake up to the peaceful sounds of Mother Nature which is only found away from the man-made mayhem.

RE: Adelaide Oyster Bar Get together

Jimmy51A & Johnny51A are twerps invading....but what the hey.

I have just spent some time down around the Eyre Peninsular and from Ceduna to Port Augusta via the coast road have enjoyed oysters so much for around $14 per dozen freshly opened. Bought some near Crystal Brook SA (allegedly from the Eyre Peninsular and she seemed like an honest person, especially as she comes from near where I now live) which had been snap-frozen as they do not sell heaps.... but after so many freshies, the taste is so different.

RE: The Aussie election

I have spent more than 30 years working as a part-time employee of the Aust Electoral Commission. Part of the conditions was to be non-partisan and it influence voters."

I hate Laboring for a number of reasons...

1... they introduced the Family Law Act and the Child Support Agency but have never done anything to improve some of us suffering the worst consequences that resulted. Even though the Hawke Govt suggested so many improvements that following Lib Govts managed to introduced. More more of those recommendations of the of the 80s & 90s that need to be done.

2... they conspired with the Union I was in to siphon $650 million from my Super fund. Laboring and the unions do not want workers to be able to retire...keep on working until you cark it is their motto.

RE: What is New Zealand?

Sorry Rob, I was just having a light-hearted moment there.

Although does this mean that NSW has a long history of giving things away?

RE: The Aussie election

7 days later and this thread has been hijacked away from a crappy political discussion.

Okay, we have a rich Liberal PM who made his fortune running a very successful business enterprise. He is trying to tell us to vote for him and his mates as they have run successful businesses.

Then we have a left-wing so-called socialist Opposition Leader telling us we should vote for him because we are workers and he knows what is best for us. "The Liberal bosses know nothing about how to manage economics."

Where are our past PMs and party faithful leaders?

Tony is on his bike (literally)...he has been involved in a charity bike ride raising money for men's mental health issues.

Kevin is ... um..... ummm .....is...have not heard much but maybe the missus has now managed to get more business since he has been on the dole. Hope she has managed to find him a job that is not as humiliating as some of us find dealing with these job agencies and CentreUnlinked.

Juliar is heading up some foreign orphan welfare organisation her govt gave lots of money to.

Kevin is...okay still don't know

Simon C who so much said how big business should pay workers before thinking of making any money to keep their business viable is now.....go find out who he is now representing.

Johnny is probably glad to be out of all of this and taking his daily walks without any security

Paul is probably still wearing his Armani suits and dusting off his French antique clocks

Bob oh my god, did all that beer preserve him enough to afford after an annual salary of $150,000 to buy his $2 million Vaucluse property to bulldoze it and erect a $4million small dwelling (it is Sydeney).

RE: The Aussie election

4 years ago I was in Iron Knob and stopped in the only local hotel still pen. Publican talked about Iron Knob reopening because the early days ad only extracted #1 grade iron ore but so much #2 grade was still available, especially when compared to #4 grade available world wide.

Last month I drove by Iron Monarch which was supposedly depleted many years ago, it is now very active.

The Eyre Peninsular (back of Whyalla) produces the richest seams of iron ore in the world.

4 years ago I was eld up on the Sturt Highway heading to Coober Pedy while they were undertaking roadworks for the new iron ore mine.

Lang Hancock got $1 per ton for his iron ore discoveries. Gina R inherited this little amount. Who gets the money from these "new" developments?

RE: No Super in New Zealand as such.

I grew up in the "peacenik" era and attended a few Australian Moratorium marches organised by the very leftist socialist/communist student organisations of the late 60s This was the way our school teachers were instructing us about "the real world."

Over the last 50 years, I have tried to look at what Australia and its future means to me and my children. Not what the USA and its allies did in Asia 50 years ago.

I want my grandchildren to have an Australian future, not some place owned by the Chinese .... Shorten's view by selling off Kidmans and any other place they can get their hands on like the Chinese have taken over Greece and many African nation's infrastructure.

Okay, my 'old timers' sort of kicked in. Shorten did opposed us "leasing" land to the Chinese in WA/NT a few years back. Maybe this was so wrong and we should have sold it to China at that time.
