When I make oriental salad with greens, mandarin oranges, chicken, etc, I use sesame seed dressing on it and sprinkle it with extra sesame seeds.
When I make a stirfry, I use part olive oil and a little sesame oil. Then when stirfry is done, I put more sesame seed oil on it, along with oyster sauce. Yum
I love sesame. Its healthy, rich in calcium and good quality fats, as well as other acids which are great for the system.. but I forget why.
I fisrt came across sesame as a child on holiday in Greece, where we used to buy these bars of honeyed sesame.. mm I already loved those, even though hey were a bit "different" from Swiss food..
And now I love ground sesame and salt sprinkled on food, sesame paste to make tahini, or the japanese way of mixing ground sesame into boiled spinach. Incidentally they also use black sesame sprinkled on white sticky rice..
I'm not that confident a cook.. well .. within reason.. but I think I'm a pretty good baker. I like to bake breads and tarts, as well as simple cakes..
I wish I could bake little delicate cookies and treats though..
I adore Indian or Thai cuisine, and also some Japanese recipes..
I love it for its spices, its sparse use of meats and the way you never feel so heavy afterwards..
I also like chinese food, but sadly I cannot cook any recipes.. Sometimes I experiment with a stir fry, chucking a bit of five spice at some poultry dish here and there.. but I dont know what I'm doing really..
I started this group, because I once started a thread in the forum, talking about snacks that make people happy.. Boy was I in for it!! Every single post seemed to make me drool and want to go and get whatever they were describing.
