American Sons
Author: Unknown
Tommy was 18 when he joined the Corps
Just like his brother and his daddy before
He went and signed the papers, the day after
nine one one
Just another proud american son
Eight weeks of boot, out at Paris Island
Then off to train for the infantry
When he got the word they were going to
Afghanistan
He told his momma and daddy don't ya
worry 'bout me
Three weeks in country,on a cold and
starry night
It was the month of september when
Tommy lost his life
His Sergeant wrote a letter to his
parents,out in Abilene
He wrote,"I want to tell you about
your son"
"We were on patrol,it was 3a.m."
"When we got ambushed by twenty guns"
"The first Marine that fell,Tommy was
by his side"
"Draggin' him to safety,screaming
"Don't you die"
"He took a bullet in the shoulder,
but he kept right on fightin'"
"Runnin' back to help another fallen
Marine"
"He used his body as a shield,to pull
him to safety"
"It was the bravest thing I had ever seen"
"I want you to know that Tommy saved
two lives"
"Don't want you thinkin' that he died
in vain"
"And tho were sending him home, a
a decorated hero"
"Our hearts go out to you,for your loss
and your pain"
So say a prayer tonight for the fallen
For each and every one
Our Proud American Sons
Then say a prayer for those still
over there
Volunteers each and every one
Our Proud American Sons

About this poem:
I would hope that people would put politics aside and pray for the safety and the safe return of all the military personal, from every country who has commited troops to the various conflicts around the globe. Our American military personal are all volunteers.I don't know of anyone who is "for" war,but the men and woman who serve do so willingly and are following orders.God Bless them ALL.
