** It **

I heard it coming on the breeze, it rustled through the leaves of the trees as if carried with pin pointed guided lasers .It was in the sounds as soft as a whisper and loud as a cataclysmic explosion from a far of super nova. It’s in a baby’s cry and the way it holds your finger before it can even open its eyes. It’s in the way the flowers reach for the sunlight & it’s in the way the rain of tears that washes our sorrow away.

I wonder if I could have avoided it or even if I ever wanted too, but knowing, wanting is all just words when it comes for you. I hid behind walls created to bubble wrap my heart impervious to anyone, anything so I thought.

It can sneak up on you and smack you when you’re not looking. It makes you feel warm and safe when the night is dark and cold. It’s when the little things you never noticed before become ever so apparent and when you can see the beauty in a single rose. It’s the reason why your grand dad always opened the door for your grandma.

Sometime we run from it. We run so fast that we leave it behind because when it does catch us it leaves it mark, it changes us for the better mostly but it’s still a change, it doesn’t only change us from the moment you are blessed to be touched by it, people around you can see it, feel it and it has a chain reaction reminding them of what happened to them when they were touched by it. Or the hope of it finding them, it is possible the most important thing that ever was and will ever be. It was something I’m glad to say found me.

About this poem:
This came to me in the early hours after my divorce. I guess it was my consciences way of telling me not to give up on it.
