In the middle of the darkness there was a quiet glow I followed all the footsteps of those who saw it before Many walked this way but it only seemed a few have made it back And the closer that I was the more that sorrow filled my flask It was a never ending journey that lead me to so alone Beneath a different twilight far away from home I could hear the drops of many tears falling in the distance Silencing my own so that I will make it through this Finally in the middle I reached to touch this quiet glow And its calmness overwhelmed me but in return it took my soul And as I fell down to my knees and I understood why many stayed before So I stood back on my feet and said to death I fear no more As I kissed death on its lips it said now be on your way And it gave me back my soul and my night returned to day

Desert Rose was my favorite song by Sting the year it came out. I have only been to a desert once when I was in Phoenix, AZ. I was a little dissapointed, I was expecting sand dunes.

LadyMorgana60 I say than you for reading and welcoming me here. I hope I can fit in and add something to this.
This is nothing different to what ”we” 'usually read'.This is a very well put expression with much vision and detail explaining one of the hardest types of service & sacrifice! Once again I salute you brother, stay sharp!

Meaningful, Many have made that march
With fallen comrades along the way!
Well Done!
