The storm passed close Too close for comfort And a breeze foul did blow It threatened the ship Indeed it rocked As if struck a mighty blow.... I felt afraid and wanted to run For comfort and shelter down below Nay, I stood fast and cupping a hand I yelled for my love to show Please dear God Do not take him from me now As fear gripped my heart And made it icy cold I wondered if he'd abandoned ship And left me all alone The tears they flowed But still I stood Until I felt that my feet Had turned to chunks of wood And then from somewhere Maybe the stern My love he answered me And as he walked back to me My heart began to burn I held him tight against my breast And only then... Were my fears laid to rest

Dear Diane, the storms may come in different directions. It sometimes test the strength of one's love and resilience to stand firm amidst it all. But thankfully your lover was right there to lay your fears to rest, may you hold him forever . Excellent stuff my dear! :)

Diana , this is very emotional and moving but rest assured all will be ok Every relationship must weather a few storms -but the strength of the bond between two will get you through to calmer waters - Warm regards - F

Hi Diana, love will always find a way in any storm to survive A lovely poem full of hope and courage
Hi, diana_1, And only then...Were my fears laid to rest ...It's always comforting when one's relationship can weather The Storm. Sometimes, it does pay to stand still and wait. Thanks for sharing.

Nicely done and says a good deal more than the literal.
