The power of regret
So hard to forget
Things said actions done
Love lost for the search
of one.

How often we say and do
things we can't take back
Wishing and wondering
if we should of said this
instead of that.

What always remains
is the power of regret
deciding on something
of which was not
well thought through
leaving us with
time to learn
something new

All that is left are memories
of what if and lost moments
of love
or unrequited
passion
that fly's away
like a dove

One thing is clear
is the pain that
fills the tears
as we carry them
silently through
the years

It seems so apparent
how we tend to project our
our regrets
though often subtle
as we pretend not
to fret

However, it takes courage
to press on
and continue to sing
our song

To carry around our baggage of regrets
that sometimes shape our ways
ultimately will leave us
in chains for the rest of
our days
