Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

About this poem:
Nature’s first green is gold,

But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

We don’t need to follow rules Or listen to what others say We challenge meanings in the songs And head out without a reservation

We don’t care about the norms Or the judgments of society We drink out of paper bags And waste time is time not wasted

We live for the moment And enjoy every sensation We are the rebels of our age And we make our own creation
