Living in the Now.
Author: Unknown
Eternal, still, in time and space,
Your spirit and your soul,
Through the source of all creation,
You are born, becoming whole
Through the source....becoming whole.
You grow up, not realizing,
Your potential's truly vast,
You seek fulfillment from the future,
An identity in the past.
Fulfillment from the future... Identity in the past.
But your mind denies your spirit,
As the world you seek to gain,
And your loss of soul reflects a world,
That's filled with fear and pain
You seek to gain the world...but lose your soul.
Carrying your cross and suffering,
Through the soul's darkest night,
Comes acceptance of the here and now,
You've begun to see the light.
You accept what is...the here and now.
You let go incessant thinking,
Ego driven, fearful, fraught,
And become the silent witness,
To the thinker and the thought.
The silent witness...to the thinker and the thought
Rooted deep within your body,
As within then so without,
As essential to existence,
As breathing in and breathing out.
As within...so without
So you live in nature's beauty
And deep down you know it's true,
Who created these stunning and sacred sights,
Also created you.
The creator of these sacred sights...created also...you.
And releasing all resistance,
True acceptance lives within,
And like the lilies as they grow,
You neither toil nor spin.
See the growing lilies...they neither toil nor spin.
You've lived a tense and anxious life,
With grief and strife unending,
But now you have the peace of God,
That passes all understanding.
The peace of God...passes all understanding.
You felt alienated and isolated,
From everyone who ever lived,
But now you know, deep in your soul,
You are one with all that is
You are one...with all that is.
With your true nature, shining forth
You know this need never cease,
You've come home to live forever,
In love and joy and peace.
Home to live forever...in love and joy and peace.

About this poem:
I wrote this poem a couple of years ago. It is based on my own experience, and was strongly influenced by Eckhart Tolle's inspiring book "The Power of Now" which I had just read.
It seemed to well up and flow out from some deep spiritual place within, without me having to seek it. You could say "It wrote me"
