BannerMan53: Great but still not as good as the Original !!
Richie Blackmore & Deep Purple...........Live in Japan 1972 !
God in heaven...
Now that brings back some great memories, eagerly cycling home with my MIJ double album in my "duffle bag", putting it on the "dynatron radiogram" for the first time and dad saying "Turn that bloody racket down"..(oddly, he was Ok with ELP and Tarkus )... I guess much the same can be said for my kids when they braught Slipknot and Incubus home...Bob was wrong, the times they are'nt a changing......We are!!!....

I love this because it's unplugged. No one has recognised acoustic guitar in this yet, so far it's all the plugs and pedals. Glen and mic who tragically died b4 his first album on grafton street.
I remember Phil Lynott and Eric Bell of Thin Lizzy busking in Dublin in 1970 !
I was only 12 but will never forget that. I was probably early Lizzies biggest fan.
The first 3 albums are classics. It was a shame when Eric Bell left the band because he couldn't handle the stress of it all. I was at the gig in Horans Tralee the night he walked of the stage and left the band in mid tour to be replaced by Gary Moore.
He then shacked up with Hendrix's Bass player in west cork for a few years. I remember driving a drummer down there for an audition for Noel Redding's new album. He did not get the job but we were in the house for a few hours and had some great chats with Eric Bell and Noel Redding and how he was still owed over a million pounds by the Hendrix estate.

My favourite lizzy album is black rose. Got to give it up is a classic which never appears on any greatest hits. Same with the Stones when Taylor left, in my view sticky fingers is the best stones album, taylor on can't you hear me knocking is twice the guitar player richards or woods will ever be.

I love Black Rose too ! (1979)
" Waiting for an alibi "
It was their 2nd last album followed by Chinatown in 1980.
howlingwolf: Reading died back in 2003 at 57. The Clon Cowboy rides no more.
He lost all interest in Ireland after his lovely wife died.
Eric Bell played at Dolan's in Limerick 3 years ago. He did all the old Lizzy stuff and it was a great night. It brought all the old headbangers out and his guitar playing was better than ever. When he finally got his self confidence back he did some fantastic gigs at the Mean Fiddler in London. Mostly old blues stuff but great music. I have always loeved his guitar style and that unique early Lizzy sound.

Mick Taylor plays some nice guitar on Dylan's "" Infidels "" album.
He left the stones because he was too good for them. He wanted a bigger challenge musically and made some great recordings with lots of different artists.

For me at least, Lizzy were 10 times the band u2 are purported to be...Just my opinion folks!!!......

I think in all honesty Bono and the Edge would totally agree with you.
When they young guys they idolized Gallager and Lizzy !!
I only heard 'Jimmy the Weed' was about Manchunian gangster Jimmy Donnelly of the Quality Street Gang. They hung out in his mums place when Phil was a kid.
About_Blank: u2, along with those other "masters of diversity" REM... How many ways can you play the same notes, sing the same words and use the same sounds before some kid says "lookie here, the emperor has no clothes on"...
Never because the amount of pedals and techmology the edge uses he'll never be caught out. If i had all that technology i could play jingle bells and make it sound a rock masterpiece.
I wonder has the News Of The World ever tried to hack into them ??
Clapton was plugged straight into a marshall amp and that was it. The secret to his sound with Cream was no treble and full bass. It was a muffled sound but so sweet and heavey !!
Hendrix co-invented the Phaser and Chorus effects in 1967. He only used them on his 4 albums but did use a Vox Wah-Wah pedal live as did Clapton from 1968 onwards.
I wonder can the edge get Sky Movies on all that equipment ?
