Boring subject I know, but Im looking to renew my internet security with something quick, easy and not to power hungry...
What do you use, and what could you recommend...
Ive been using AVG free for a long while, Pretty good, but like all freeware, a sod to download without other unwanted programmes trying to butt in...
Im considering Kaspersky, good reviews so far...

Just to share it with everybody who want's to try it and it is free!!!!!
Download Windows Security Essentials I have it on my commputer and am very happy with it Before you load it... first delete your antivirus programme and then load Windows Security Essentials or you will not get in on reboot.. let it do its scan and find any problems. You can down load any Antivirus programme and install it over the above programme and it will work if you like but you certainly will not need it.. Certainly not power hungry

I use AVG "free" it is one I have used a long time. There is the option to buy the more intense version but I have done fine with the free one. SuperAnitsyware as Conrad mentioned gets most all the other things that can come up. I recently ran a program that allows a free scan and I did this on more than one computer than I looked at the results and much of it I felt fine in changing and deleting manually. But I will be paying the 30 usd for it soon I think, It is called "PC Pitstop" even though I did make all the changes that will be made with the program I noticed a extreme result in speed both on and off the internet. I really recommend it, Do yourself and do the scan and just see what it says,,I think there is a 30 day guarantee...but the licence is for one year and I know it can be used on a few computers of your own and if you have a friend or lady you can give it or what ever. It is these programs that save you money from guys like me that charge a lot of bills to do it and even I am to the point where I have to admit it is really a asset.

Kaspersky has always done a good job...and superantispyware and mbam as the others have said work pretty good also, for anti-malware progs, the free versions are on-demand scanner's. Personally I use clamwin on demand only for av, truecrypt for disk encryption and powershadow for a virtual box...For some really good tips on ways to lock your box up go to

While in Cyprus I bought Kaspersky. It covered 3 computers for a year and cost about 45 Euros. I have been very pleased with it and will continue to use it. I previoudly used AVIRA free version then upgraded to the full version but later ran into problems transferring to a new computer.
