They accept it around here but if you need to borrow money and make automatic payments for insurance and stuff like that you need a bank account as nobody has enough time to run around paying bills and work at a job.
As well, it's not safe to walk around with tens of thousands of dollars and often those whom you are paying are in another city so traveling there to pay for fuel, repairs and such is not viable. However, if all you are doing is watching you tube and living off the government and have all the time in the world to pick up a charity payment and go buy milk then certainly, that can be done without any difficulty.
