I thought that he meant 'guys', but made a spelling error because English is not is first language, nor would the Roman alphabet be his first system of writing. When dealing with a different language and an alien system of writing mistakes are to be expected.

You're right...when I first read it, I took it as guys but it could also be perceived as gay depending on the person reading it.
