I have never tried to use subliminal messages but I do know I would be susceptiple to it.
I have used hypnosis in the past for giving up smoking and I have a friend who is studying NLP and it's all linked.
And I do believe they can be a very powerful tools for self awareness & positive living.

Have you never dropped a hint to a friend or partener to get what you want? Kinda like 'plant the seed in someones head'? Or drop a subtle hint to let someone know you are interested in them..Or even used it at work,

Great subject, It has been used in business for many years now, I have found recently that a lot of the News readers are using it covertly.
A very good example of this is the American Lady on France24 news network. At first I thought it was just one of those Shouting type annoying accents then one day I had France 24 on whilst washing dishes in the kitchen (couldn't see TV) It was then I realized what was going on. Certain words emphasized to capture attention or to enforce a view or statement.
The only reason I mention this is that it appears to be a habit on the rise so to speak.
