I will often reply to people im not interested in but for perhaps 1 maybe 2 mails and only if they were in Ireland or Germany or somewhere warm where there could just be a tiny inchy outside chance they may offer free board so i can top up on a tan ...
My first mail was from Annastasia in auld Rusky land ...
She had an alcoholic ex husband and 1 son and worked in law enforcement supporting her mother too ...What a Gal Alas the more she found out about me the more distant she became and when i started to ask her for money she stopped writing and said i was a scammer and a false profile ...that hurt
So write to many answer to few and dont worry about commitment and honour as you would in the real world as this is Internet dating and its a whole new ball game ......
