With billions of advertising dollars spent yearly the hope is that the viewer will take the bait 'hook, line, and sinker' and run out and clean the stores out! Are you influenced to go out and buy based on what you see on 'Telly?' Enjoy!

Television advertising influences me in two ways. 1. If it tells me about something that I might want to buy I will pay attention. 2. If the advertisement pisses me off I will make a note to NEVER buy anything produced by that company. I find that advertising usually gives me fodder for my personal boycott list.

My brother and I have only one trait in common: we both deliberately avoid products that are advertised. When I was watching TV, I would mute the channel, turn to another channel, or walk to the kitchen to get something to munch on. I hate all ads, whether they are in print, on radio or TV, or the Internet. If I had my way, ads would totally not exist at all. Ad sponsors are absolutely wasting they money on me. Furthermore, the ratings are skewed, because people mute or walk away from the ads when they come on, so the ratings look like someone is watching, when in reality the person might not even be in the room. HAHA, FAIL!
By the way, David Sarnoff, the inventor of TV, said this cynical statement: "If you think that television was invented for any other reason than advertising to the consumer, you're wrong." Wow! So, all we are is just sheep who are supposed to buy whatever is advertized? WRONG!

You get a FAIL in the history test. Television was invented by a Scotsman named John Logie Baird.
